2009-2010 Supervisor and Coordinator Awards

The Supervisor and Coordinator Awards are awarded to regular members (Article III, Section I) who have made outstanding contributions to students with disabilities as those students prepare for the future.Each region's nominee will receive recognition for his/her fine efforts in Special Education. One nominee from each category will be chosen for the OASCES Award of Excellence.

Criteria:

  1. Nominations are limited to one (1) Coordinator and one (1) Supervisor from each region.
  2. Each nominee is eligible for an award, Supervisor or Coordinator, based on job duties performed.
  3. Each nominee must be an active, paid member of OASCES for the past 3 consecutive years.
  4. Each nominee must be a Regular Member (Article III, Section I) during the year in which he/she is nominated.
  5. Each nominee must have at least 3 years experience in the respective category.
  6. Each nominee must not be a past recipient of the respective Award of Excellence.

Application Process:

A nomination packet will be submitted by the Region's Nominating Committee which will include:

  1. A completed application.
  2. Letters of Recommendation. (Letters should support the areas of contribution.)
    1. One (1) from the Regional Nominating Committee.
    2. One (1) from either the Director of Special Education, the Superintendent, or his/her designee.
    3. Three (3) additional letters (from parents, teachers, community agency personnel, business professionals, etc.)

The Awards Committee will:

  1. Be composed of previous award recipients.
  2. Review each application packet.
  3. Verify each application packet.
  4. Rate each application packet.

Based on the results of the scoring rubric, the committee will select the recipients for the Supervisor and Coordinator of the Year awards. Any concerns will be addressed by the Awards Committee with the appropriate regional president. Presentation of the awards will occur at the Annual OASCES Spring Conference.
